Tawanda, is a Registered Nurse of 13 years. Prenatal nurses work closely with the mother throughout pregnancy, assisting with prenatal and post-baby care. They aid in teaching the importance of incorporating healthy habits and providing resources needed before and after. The prenatal nurse also helps expectant mothers avoid and recognize any issues that may occur early, during and after birth. Serving as a liaison between Providers and The Expectant, the Prenatal Nurse can communicate abnormal lab results and treatment plan to Mom as outlined by the Provider and/or protocols. The Prenatal Nurse also provides patient education in areas such as chronic disease, medications and pregnancy. This advocate works with other members of the care team to coordinate patient care, referrals, care management and hospital/ER follow-up. Executing nursing care under direction of the provider, may include venipuncture, injections and/or assisting with procedures.
